Steven Birch and his son Cliff were the lucky recipients of an Altamont Anglers Gift Certificate over the holidays, which they redeemed on March 19, 2006 by trying their luck on the West Fork of the Pigeon River under the guideance of AA guide Teo Whitlock. While their "luck" proved powerfull, it fell to Cliff to earn the honors for best fish, a hefty West Fork rainbow trout. They also managed to achieve the rare "double" and the not-so-rare Appalachian Grand Slam (catching a brook trout, a brown trout and a rainbow trout in one outing). We're guessing they're grateful to Alison and the other family members who made it possible with that Gift Certificate!
