Bryant Butler gave us a call from his home in Oceanside, CA right after returning from a deployment with his Marine unit in Iraq. He and his wife were planning some R & R in Asheville and, being an avid bass fisherman with an interest in trout, it followed that some of the "recreation" element of that R & R would include some fishing. Asheville Anglers' guide Teo Whitlock took Bryant out to some Delayed Harvest water to introduce him to the thrills of fly fishing for trout, thrills that may not equal the adrenalin rush available daily in Iraq, but make up for that by taking in place in a trout stream instead of a desert.

For a first-time trout fisherman Bryant proved to be a quick learner, judging by the photos that follow. It probably helped his concetration knowing that the only "terrorists" in the area were local teenagers poaching the trout...
