ltamont Anglers have responded to the recurring drought in the Southeast by offering half-day walk/wade trips to the tailwaters in Eastern Tennessee. We implemented the newly-restored policy on July 4, 2008 with a half-day walk/wade Independence Day excursion to the Watauga River.

Drew Burns called to arrange some fishing for his Dad, Kenny, and his brother, Chris for the 4th of July. AA guide Teo Whitlock took the three Burns's over to the Watauga River in Elizabethton, TN (to avoid the low water in Western NC), where they found cold water and happy trout. Check out the belly on that rainbow, and you'll see the source of their happiness: they live in a food-rich environment!
We sent these photos on to Drew, who replied by email:
"Thanks for setting us up with Teo. He was a great guy and an even better fisherman. As I told Teo, we have only been on one other trip, and it was to Big Sky, Montana. This trip blew that one out of the water. Thanks again for everything. Next time we are going to be floating with you guys! Tell Teo I’ll bring the Fat Tires!"

Few things in life offer more satisfaction for a father than a day fishing with his sons. One thing that offers more satisfaction than that is outfishing his sons! We're not sure if that's what happened for the Burns boys on the Watauga River, but we can tell you this: that's a look of satisfaction on Kenny Burns' face: way to go, Dad.
