ltamont Anglers client George Kessler, inspired by his trip with us last fall, put together a return trip scheduled for April 3rd and 4th of 2008. Accompanied by his fishing buddy David Crosby, George and Dave floated the first day on the Watauga River, and walk/waded the second day on the Davidson River.

Altamont Anglers' guide Teo Whitlock drew the guide duty for both days, and it looks like the day on the Watauga might have produced big numbers of trout, but the day on the Davidson produced the size! Click the image on the left for a larger view of David Crosby's monster rainbow.
David sent us this email: "I would like to compliment Teo. He is a great guide, knows where the big fish are and, better yet, how to catch them. I had a great time and learned a lot from him and he is a enjoyable young man to spend time with (otherwise, ten hour days would be a real chore.)

Teo Whitlock holds an enormous brown trout caught by George Kessler (click the image for a larger view)
This humongous brown trout, caught by George Kessler, is true affirmation of George's instinct to make a return trip to our waters, guided by Altamont Anglers.
Click on the thumbs below and you'll find a shot of George holding this beauty, but the trout was in a less cooperative frame of mind--or the shutter speed was a little too slow...
Our thanks to George for the return visit, and to David for giving us a try (he's already talking about a return trip of his own!)

They Coulda Been Contenders!
Or wall-hangers--but we released them all!!
