Davidson River trout fishing
Dave Deviney hefts and double handfull of Davidson River brown trout, caught on May 16, 2009 (click image to enlarge).

Dave Deviney drove up from North Georgia for a weekend getaway with his wife and managed to carve out a morning for some fly fishing. He booked a half day trip with us for Saturday, May 16, and Altamont Anglers guide Stephen Morris made the wise decision to take Dave to the Davidson River.

The Davidson River's in great shape right now, like all of our rivers with the recent relief from drought. Stephen's not giving away any secrets about what flies worked for them but if you plan to fish the Davidson you might bring some midges...

Dave sent these pictures captured on his camera by He and Stephen, along with these comments:
"Stephen is holding the 22” Rainbow and I’m holding the 23.5” Brown. He’s a good guide, very helpful with technique – don’t think I would have landed either without him."

Click the thumbnail image below for a larger view of the big rainbow--we'll just have to trust Dave's word that that's Stephen Morris holding it...
