Don Hall hoists a hefty brown trout on the South Holston River, October 18, 2009 (click image to enlarge).

Don Hall has been fishing with Altamont Anglers guides for years, making the trip every Spring and Fall from his home in Ft. Lauderdale. We featured him here a few years ago, but we're particularly impressed by the two hogs we're posting here. The South Holston River rewards anglers who are willing to tough out the nasty winter weather and have the skills tackle the challenges it presents.

The annual pre-spawn migration of brown trout has begun on the South Holston, with the fish feeding aggressivly, taking on protein prior to the rigors spawning. The importance of proper catch-and-release practices is even more important under these conditions--we want these fish to be successful in their mating efforts!
