Altamont Anglers' client/friend Mike Edwards brought his posse of angling buddies with him for a couple of days floating and fishing the waters of Eastern Tennessee and North Carolina the last week of February '09, and AA guides Teo Whitlock and Erich Sonderegger manned the oars for a float down the Watauga River.

As is the case for fishing this time of year, there were only a couple of other boats on the river that day--in spite of the warm, Spring-like weather.  Doug Smith wasted no time in hooking the first fish of the day: a spunky, rod-bending Watauga River Rainbow.

The fish fed eagerly for most of the day and Mike, Doug, Jeremy Wilson and his son Mason all caught their share of "normal" Watauga River trout (10" to 16"), and lost their fair share of the bigger ones--you know, the ones that got away...
