Clay Gibson holds a feisty South Holston River brown trout (click image for full view)
Clay Gibson has joined the growing army of anglers smitten by the South Holston River, and after fishing this past weekend (January 13 and 14, 2012), he called the office to reserve dates in advance for each coming month, through June 2012. The conversation went something like this:
Altamont Anglers: "So, Clay, we hope you guys didn't freeze to death over the weekend."
Clay: "No, we had plenty of layers on and we were too busy hooking up to get cold. I'm not exaggerating--Reid and I put over 100 fish in the boat on Sunday. No hogs, you know, although we lost a few bigger fish, but several in the 16" -- 17" range."
AA: "Geez, Clay, if anyone could ever figure out what turns them on and off like that they could make a fortune"
Clay: "No, no! I think it's just Teo--he's a whisperer! He's a darn trout whisperer!!"
Well, we hadn't ever heard it expressed quite like that, but we'd like to think that all the Altamont Anglers guides are "trout whisperers".
