It can be a little frustrating for a fly fisher stuck in the confines of a large metropolitan area such as Charlotte, NC, knowing that just a tantalizing couple of hours away are wild trout waiting to be caught--the weekends are few and far between! Such was the plight of Ben Gilman. Ben had made some trips up to the mountains surrounding Asheville, NC and found the Davidson River to be especially intriguing, but with fishing opportunities as rare as weekends, he found it tough to put in the amount of time necessary to "break the code" on the Davidson's trout. So he did the right thing: he called Altamont Anglers and booked a day of guided fishing, which is the perfect way to get a "head start" on the wiley trout of the Davidson River.

Altamont Anglers guide Teo Whitlock shared his knowledge of the trout and the river with Ben on Wednesday, March 28 and from the pictures it appears that Ben certainly has gotten a "head start" on the Davidson's trout population.
