Kristi and Guy Jones were driving up from Birmingham, AL when they made the call to Altamont Anglers to see if they could get a fly fishing lesson for the next day. A quick couple of phone calls later and we had AA guide Forrest Marshall lined up for a half-day lesson on Saturday, March 25 2006. We'll let Kristi's own words tell the tale:
" Guy and I had a fabulous time on our ½ day trip March 25th. Forrest was a knowledgeable and funny guide. I was amazed at his knowledge of not only fly fishing, but the varied local ecosystems as well. He was also very laid back and patient with me, the new fly fisherwoman. I never dreamed I would learn so much in one day. It was very cold, but well worth it! It was pretty neat to be fishing while it was snowing. I also enjoyed seeing the three different kinds of trout, which I caught one of each. Guy was thrilled that I was not only learning how to fly fish, but enjoying it enough to make it a hobby. We’re already talking about buying a fly rod and waders for me. We can’t wait to come back. We want to see what North Carolina looks like with all of those rhododendrons blooming. They were everywhere!"
Well, Kristi, thanks for the kind words, and you're right about the rhododendrons--they are everywhere! And you should see our mountains when they're in bloom...

Kristi sent us a lot of pictures from their fishing, and clicking the thumbs below opens just a few of them--some "action" shots, some fishy portraits and some scenic views. Click and enjoy...
