ltamont Anglers guides love winter fishing, and only wish more clients shared the passion (some might call it obsession) that drives people to trout streams no matter the weather: maybe if more anglers had enablers like the Tennessee Valley Authority, we'd do more of this counter-intuitive pleasure seeking. Here's why: the TVA draws water from the bottom of Watauga Lake, through the power-generating turbines at the bottom of the Wilbur Dam: drawing through the turbines results in electricity for the grid, and drawing from the bottom results in consistant 52° Fahrenheit water temperatures for the trout. What this means for winter fishing is Happy Trout no matter what the air temperature.
