A big Davidson River rainbow trout
Altamont Anglers guide Teo Whitlock holds a big rainbow trout caught by Sandra Jacobs (click image to enlarge).

Randy Jacobs booked a half-day of guided fly fishing for himself and his wife, Sandra, for June 9, 2009, and AA guide Teo Whitlock took advantage of our rainy Spring season by taking them to the Davidson River. The trout on the Davidson are happy trout this year, nicely recovering from the past 2 years of drought conditons by feeding and growing, feeding and growing.

This piscine behavior of happy trout makes for happy fishing guides--and their clients, as you can see in the photo to the left. But we prefer that you not take our word for it, so here's what Sandra had to say in an email after the fishing:

"Thank you so much.  What a great experience.  Teo certainly deserved some time off, after dealing with us.  He was so patient, such a great teacher, and made it a day we will always remember."

Randy Jacobs got a chance to pose with a nice Davidson rainbow (held carefully over the "safety net"), and we suspect he might not have had "equal time" with his fishing guide, which is pretty common when couples go a-fishing: husbands spend more time fending for themselves while their wives catch all the fish.

Randy sent an email after he got home:
"Sandra and I had a wonderful time. She especially loved it because she caught nine fish.... Teo was great. Sandra is very anxious to come back. When will our pictures be available? All our friends are waiting to see if Sandra's fish tales are true."

Well, here's the proof of Sandra's veracity: click the thumbnails below for larger views of some more of the fishing the Jacobs' enjoyed on the Davidson River, June 9, 2009...
