Jim Cox came over to Asheville, NC, from Tennessee to try our waters on March 23, 2005. Altamont Anglers' fly fishing guide Teo Whitlock took him over to the Davidson River, and we'll let Jim tell it in his own words:

"I wanted you to know how much I enjoyed my trip last Wednesday with Teo. We actually made a pretty good team. I'd put my fly in the trees, he and I would find a way to catch the limb and I hold it while he harvested flies -- some he recognized as ones he's left there before! I really learned a lot about nymphing and am glad that because of the muddy condition of some of the smaller streams we had planned to fish and closed roads that we ended up on the Davidson. His comment on your web site about removing the intimidation about nymph fishing was "right on." I'm attaching a copy of the Brown I caught (and he netted). I only wish I had a picture of him chasing another one downstream that he hooked while I was having a smoke that had to go over 20 inches. How he could run so fast downstream was beyond me. Hope to see you again soon."
