They Coulda Been Contenders!
Or wall-hangers--but we released them all!!

Kudos:

A Davidson River trout
Jenny Ladson leans in while AA guide Teo Whitlock holds her big brown caght on the Davidson River, June 1 2009 (Click image to enlarge).

They say "the family that fishes together, catches together". Well, we're not sure what they say--heck, we're not even sure who they are--in fact, we're the ones who said that!

But it's true, at least in the case of the Ladson family. They've been fishing with Altamont Anglers for a few years now, and getting better at it with every trip.

The fish on the left, caught by "mama bear" Jenny Ladson on the Davidson River on Sunday, June 1, may or may not be the biggest trout she's caught since they started fishing with the AA guides: it's just the biggest one we've gotten a picture of!

Flanked by Will and Bill Ladson, Teo holds a big brown caught by Bill (click image to enlarge).

The Davidson River doesn't give up its better fish easily, but it's a "family friendly" river, and was certainly welcoming of the Ladsons, judging by the big brown trout caught by "papa bear" Bill.

While this fish deserved a group photo, we wouldn't be surprise if a little family debate results over the relative sizes of "mama bear" Jenny's and "papa bear" Bill's nearly identical fish.

It's probably time for "junior bear" Will to weigh in...

And indeed, "junior bear" Will Ladson weighed in with a nice Davidsn River rainbow trout!

What this trout lacked in size, it clearly made up for in sheer delight for Will. Obviously, "mama bear" Ladson's trout had it's virtues, and "papa bear" Ladson's trout was big enough, but "junior bear" Ladson's trout was just right...
