Steve Morin with a huge brown trout caught on the Davidson River on October 23, 2009 (click image to enlarge).
Steve Morin and his guide, Altamont Anglers' lead guide Teo Whitlock, teamed up on about 30 lbs of trout last Friday. One normally thinks in "numbers" of trout caught in a day, but in Steve's case it makes a more interesting story to talk in terms of pounds caught: you wouldn't necessarily be bragging about catching 10 or 15 trout, but if they totaled 30lbs, you would!
It doesn't look like the rain caused much suffering for Steve--we suspect he'd have a big grin on his face, if he didn't have a flyrod in his mouth. The pictures prove a point we make to sometimes skeptical clients: we love the rain! Fishing in these conditions is always better than the fishing on a "bluebird" day, as long as you remember the rain gear.
Steve sent us his thoughts after the day's fishing:"Just wanted to thank you for a great day of fishing on Friday. Teo is an awesome guide and an even better person! He's fun to fish with, patient, a good teacher and that guy knows how to put you on fish!! We had a blast, caught a bunch of fish, landed three 10 pound hogs and lost a couple even bigger. You guys know your stuff and I'll be back."
