Georgina Murray booked a full day walk/wade trip for August 19, 2006 which involved some instruction and some fishing for herself and Bill and Will McNeill. The trio were guided by Altamont Anglers' guide Jay Dodd, who took them to the Davidson River, a spot we love to take beginners. The Davidson River offers a high probability of putting neophytes onto decent fish due to the relatively easy wading and the good population of resident trout. In spite of being chased off by an afternoon thunderstorm, Georgina, Bill and Will learned enough to catch some trout, including one that would inspire envy in many more experienced anglers.

Reviving trout during the release is the most important part of the whole process of stalking, casting, fighting, landing and releasing fish. Here, Jay gently rocks the fish back and forth in the stream to help pass water through it's gills--helping the fish to "catch it's breath" (click to enlarge the image)...
