Steve Nichting discovered a gap in the schedule of events for he and his wife, who were ensconced in Asheville's Renaissance Inn for the weekend of March 4, 2006. With half the day free to himself on Friday, March 3, he decided to learn to fly fish! A quick call to Altamont Anglers on the day before and he was "hooked up" for a trip to the Davidson River, guided by AA guided Teo Whitlock.
Steve proved to be an able student of the "quiet" sport, and
the trout were in a willing mood (especially for so early in the season),
as can be seen in the photos below.
Here's Steve on 3/03/06 holding what has to be an A+ grade earned for
his first ever lesson in fly fishing--a monster Davidson river brown trout
in full color...
