Such were the circumstances presented when a hopeful angler called us on Saturday, June 14 looking for a guide for the next day. A couple of quick calls later and we had him lined up with AA guide Erich Sonderegger.
Erich juggled the baby-sitting and other duties, skillfully freeing up some time for himself and his new clients, Kevin & Sharon Rutherford. Kevin and Sharon were visiting the area with their family, escaping some of the summer heat of their Houston home for our mountain air, and had never tried fly fishing but thought they'd give it a try. Judging by the picture at the left, they had some excellent instruction from Erich, and learned well!
Kevin & Sharon sent us this email right after their fishing lessons:
" We had a very fun time this morning(Father's Day '08) with Erich. Great guide. He could not only see the fish; he could smell 'em! We had not tried this before but he taught us everything we needed to know to catch the big one (that didn't get away) Caught several fine specimans between 18 and 21 inches. Hit the Appalachian Trout Trifecta. "
Click the images below for larger views of the great fishing Kevin and Sharon had on June 15, 2008 on the Davidson River, near Asheville, NC...
