ltamont Anglers guides love all forms of fishing: fly fishing for trout or any other species, fishing with conventional (spinning and bait-casting) gear for bass, muskie, smallmouth bass etc. So they're usually pretty enthusiastic when a devotee of conventional tackle or intractable bass fisherman gets the itch to try fly fishing. Rob Teaster's been an avid bass fisherman all his life, but has an uncle who's been evangalizing for the fly rodder he new lay dormant in Rob's soul. After some sessions on the bass pond behind his house in Hillsboro, NC with the outfit his uncle had donated to the cause of his conversion, Rob gave us a call to book a day of instruction in fly fishing...

Altamont Anglers' guide Teo Whitlock donned his teacher's cap and took Rob for a tutorial float trip down the Watauga River on Saturday, February 23, 2007. The differences between casting a bassbug onto a still pond and drifting flies in a swift current are part of the learning curve when transitioning to fly fishing, but Rob's a quick study, as the impressive brown trout to the left attests.
Rob sent us this via email:
"I want to thank you and TEO for a fantastic trip. I am literally hooked on flyfishing.
The fishing has also caught the interest of my uncle in California. We will be booking another trip soon.
Thank you again for a memorable first trip.
