A big trout caught on the Davidson River

You've gotta be tough! Danielle Weinberg and her friend, Gilad (Ely) Zubery, booked a half-day walk-wade trip to try their hands at fly fishing and never blinked when the day arrived with 25 mph winds blowing snow with a 25° high temperature: into the freezing water they waded!

The Davidson River, as good as it can be, will always be tougher to fish when the temperatures are so low: fish are cold-blooded, after all, and when their metabolisms slow way down in that cold water they just don't need to eat.

Still, success was won on the water. Altamont Anglers guide Teo Whitlock provided the instruction to the first-time fly fishers--who must have been quick learners, judging by the pictures.
