Why fish in Winter? Jay and Jason Jones fished with Altamont Anglers in November of 2011, and have some good answers to that question. Their reason, and maybe the most compelling reason for some, is that's when they could put it together, juggling Dad Jay's schedule and his son Jason's military obligations.
But the fish they are holding, to the left and in the slideshow that follows are the best reason of all for winter fishing--the availability of big browns taking on protein before they spawn, cooler temps and smaller crowds all make winter fishing the best there is.
And, if you come in January or February, you get to try out all that new gear that Santa brought for Christmas!
